Welcome
to the Bioinformatics centre.The centre was established as a sub-node
of the BTISnet, Department of Biotechnology, New Delhi in 1999
primarily to support the biotechnological research in sericulture in
the country. The centre is attached to BTISnet network of DBT which
inturn is networked to the International Biotechnological Information
Centres like NCBI (National Centre for Biotechnology Information, USA),
EBI (European Bioinformatics Institute, UK), DDBJ (DNA Data Bank of
Japan),etc.
The centre performs under the administrative control of Central
Sericultural Research and Training Institute, Mysore. ( see organizatonal chart )
has been established with main objective of
building repository if biotechnological information generated in
various laboratories spread across the country and to make to available
to the scientists across the globe in general and India in particular.
The network spread across the country with various subject
specializations in Biotechnology work together in developing the
information repository and the Human resource
